I guess maybe because last year didn't really ever get cold, this first real taste of cold winter is not being received well by me. I'm looking at the temp in the house, and outside, and it just feels way colder than 34. Some kind of a thermometer conspiracy. Now that I think about it, I may have accused thermometers of being in cahoots before. It does sound like me. My little toyota MR2 isn't digging it either. I could feel it wimper as we made our way to get heating oil this morning. I can tell when a machine is not happy. Doesn't matter what, I just know. Funny thing about the oil. I called around and the best price I could get for 100 gallons of heating oil was 3.89 per gallon. I can get it up the road at the shell station for 3.60. I can not complain with a house thats pushing 90 years old, we do keep the heat down, but the combination of high prices, cold weather and no extra cash makes each fill up hurt. Still, it feels like 10 degrees outside, no joke. I dread these days after the winter equinox, it's like the whole planet is playing catchup for the lack of sunlight and cold northern winds. I often wonder what it would be like to not really live this far north, and maybe have the coldest be about 40. Na.... see even after I wrote that it seems too cold. How about never gets below 48 :) I think I could pull that off. Never is a tall order and a big word.
